ROB NOVIA VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH                                                        


Rob Novia begins his fourth season with Bobcat Baseball in 2017-2018 as a Varsity assistant coach, working primarily with the team's hitters and outfielders.  In Novia's first three seasons on staff in 2015-2017, he mentored numerous Bobcat hitters to successful seasons, including All-Area selections Daltyn Smith, Dominic LeFever, Nathan Vetter, Chase O'Neil and Charlie Davidson.


Novia came to NPHS after a successful collegiate playing career at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA.  Novia was a 4-year member of the Point Park team, playing as an every day outfielder his junior and senior seasons.   As a junior in 2012, Novia hit .340 with 41 runs, 62 hits and 42 RBI, which earned him All-Conference honors, team, batting champion MVP, and American Mideast Conference Player of the Week (March 19-25).  Point Park finished 53-11 and won the Marion, Indiana Super Regional to advance to the NAIA College World Series.  Point Park finished the season ranked #6 in the nation for NAIA baseball. 


Novia followed his 2012 campaign with another successful year in 2013, being selected as the team captain and once again as an All-Conference outfielder.  He was the Kentucky Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week (April 1-8) after hitting .765 with 4 doubles and 8 RBI.  Novia's Point Park team won the KIAC championship, finished 39-16 and led the country in team batting average at .341.  Individually, Novia hit .408 with 35 runs, 58 hits and 32 RBI. 


Novia, a 2009 graduate of North Port High School, brings tremendous work ethic, passion, energy and discipline to the Bobcats.  Novia is currently 5th in school history in single season at bats (91), 10th in hits (22), 4th in doubles (7) and 4th in RBI (24).  Novia is currently a teacher of mathematics at the Sky Academy in Venice, FL.
